Vernon Inouye
Vern
Inouye is the co-founder and president of Floral Resources/Hawaii,
Inc., a producer and distributor of tropical flowers. Floral
Resources was founded in 1976 with its home office in Hilo,
and represents a select group of tropical flower growers,
as well as having 30 acres of anthurium in production.
Vern is a Hilo High graduate with a BS in Business Administration
from Colorado State University. He is a member of several
agricultural associations and committees including: Director,
Hawaii Tropical Flower Council (HTFC), Director, Hawaii Marketing
Alliance (HMA), past president, Hawaii (Hilo) Florists and
Shippers Association (HFSA), former Director, Hawaii Anthurium
Industry Association (HAIA), and former member of the Society
of American Florists (SAF) Wholesaler's Council. Vern was
inducted into the American Academy of Floriculture (AAF) in
1983.
Favorite pastime, hobby or sport:
Vern is an avid single digit handicap golfer, active grandfather,
and is married to State Senator Lorraine R. Inouye.
