With
a vast array of colors and incredible vase life, Hawaii's Anthurium
are one of the most popular tropical flowers. Over 12 million
stems are shipped annually from Hawaii.
We grow the most consistent, high quality
flowers found anywhere and we continue to develop new and spectacular
cultivars for you.
Colors range from the many hues of red to
the bi-colored obakes, green "Midori" and subtle shades
of pink, peach, and purple. Amnicola anthurium, commonly called
"Tulip" Anthurium because of their tulip shape, are
one of our specialties. No matter what the occasion, there will
always be an Anthurium cultivar that will be the perfect choice.

What sets Floral Resources apart from other
anthurium growers? Consider this. We've got several anthurium
cultivars that you just won't find anywhere else. Our selection
of anthurium cultivars goes well beyond the traditional heart-shaped
red blooms that most folks are familiar with. Through our long-term
commitment to anthurium culture, we have either developed or introduced
dozens of new varieties to the cut flower market. At Floral Resources
we grow anthurium in many colors besides red. We have oranges,
whites, pastels, greens, even multi-colored flowers. You will
also find anthurium described as butterfly, tulip or cup n' saucer
in form.
The making of a new variety is a labor of love and science. It
also takes a real time commitment. A new cultivar introduced to
the cut flower market today would have gotten its start in our
breeder's imagination 6 or 7 years earlier. Steps along the way
include seedling selection, seedling grow-out, tracking and evaluation.
Next, the selected plant goes to the laboratory for tissue culture.
This is where that very special plant is identically reproduced
in numbers large enough for commercial planting. Two years in
the lab results in tiny, test-tube plantings, about the size of
a bean sprout. Then comes nursery for life in our shaded fields.
The field plants reach flower-bearing maturity in 2 years and
a new variety is ready for you to enjoy.
